So for those who have a short visit to Nias Island, this Asi Walo beach can be an alternative to visit.
Formerly referred to as Teluk Bengkuang because the beach sand is white like yam and also forms a bay so that the sea water is calm and safe for swimming and snorkeling because on this beach coral reefs can also be found which were destroyed by the 2005 earthquake, but lately it has begun grow again and you can also find reef fish of various colors and sizes.
This beach is always crowded on Sundays or holidays because of the relatively close distance from the city center. Also available are restaurants that provide fresh grilled fish.
Before good road access to the North Nias area, Asi Walo Beach was used as a port for small passenger ships connecting North Nias and Gunungsitoli. Aside from being a place of recreation, Asi Walo beach is also used as a place to anchor fishing boats around because of its safe and not choppy location.
